BIG Batch #2 Oatmeal Cookies

This recipe is number 2 in the Big Batch series for those with big mixing machines.  The reason it is number 2 is so that the mixer does not have to be cleaned from making Big Batch #1 - this is another speed tip.

  • 3 cups shortening (using half butter aids the flavour)
  • 4 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tsp vanilla
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp soda
  • 12 cups of oatmeal
Mix all ingredients in order; if flash freezing, scoop into 1 inch balls, freeze and bag.  Thaw while oven preheats or  in warning oven. 
Bake 10 - 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
